The Purpose of XenoModa
OBJECTIVE
Summary: To provide a list of international-themed sites I love, with commentary to entertain you and myself.
Although it’s geared toward my tastes, which are trendy, adventurous, multilingual, and young in nature, there is plenty for others.
ORIGINS
Through my forays into international business, such as importing designer European men’s underwear, I have found many terrific sites and a lot of crap. I have weeded out the drivel to provide a highly useful directory of evaluated and recommended stores and sites to people who think outside the map.
HOW IT’S ORGANIZED
The right column lists a few links per category so if you’re down-and-dirty, you can click and go and not be overwhelmed by the number of options you have. The rectangular buttons under “Directories” link to more detailed pages for the main categories.
The main section contains blog posts.
WHAT IT DOES
I list sites I’ve studied, and as often as possible, companies I’ve bought from or who are reputable. Where shopping sites are concerned, I like ones that make it easy for me to choose and go. If I have to spend more than an hour to find great things that work for me, I’ll either not list it or list it with caveats.
WHAT IT DOESN’T
I do not provide links to ad-rich sites, which tend to be ugly and only designed to encourage you click on things to give them money. I have been extremely irritated to do a search on “Clothing Directory” only to get a completely useless list of skeletal sites with Google ads up the yin-yang, where no one took the effort of actually typing anything themselves.
WHAT I GET
I receive no money from any of the sites I link to, although I may in the future
If you have clients or colleagues from abroad that need help editing documents in English (or translations from Spanish), refer them to my business cadapalabra.com. There are versions in Spanish, French, Italian, and English. I say that to sound snobby and cool. Note that if your associates are really uptight, don’t tell them that this directory site exists. Shhh.
